Beyond the High Peaks: Exploring the Lesser Known Regions of the ADKs

This collection of short hiking narratives highlights a dozen wild and beautiful places in the Adirondack Park. While most hikers gravitate to the High Peaks region, the author has discovered that the Adirondacks has a lot more to offer. There are over forty designated wilderness areas and wild forests within the park boundaries. During the past four decades, McLaughlin has visited most of those places, contemplating the relationship between wildness and being human while immersing himself in deep forest solitude.
