Radicans Dwarf Gardenia is a compact and densely structured shrub that delights the senses with its highly aromatic white flowers and lustrous, dark green leaves. He Radicans is a low-spreading variety that reaches a modest height of 1-2 feet while boasting a generous spread of up to 4 feet. For optimal flowering, position the Radicans in a spot that enjoys full to partial sunlight and plant it in slightly acidic soil. This miniature gardenia is the perfect fit for limited spaces, container gardens, and small garden beds, offering the lush appeal of larger varieties without their spatial demands. It flourishes in well-draining, nutrient-rich acidic soil. While it is hardy in USDA zones 7 to 10, it appreciates a bit of extra protection from the chill in the colder edge of its growing range.

  • Sweet Fragrance: The Dwarf Radicans Gardenia has dark green, glossy leaves and white, star-shaped flowers. In addition to the beauty of the flowers they are also extremely aromatic. It is a small shrub, growing to a height of 1-2 feet and spreading up to 4 feet wide.
  • Landscape and Containers: Perfect as an elegant ground cover, the Dwarf Radicans Gardenia excels in rock gardens, as a fragrant edging plant, or when planted in mass for a dramatic effect. Its size makes it suitable for container planting, adding a touch of class to patios, balconies, and terraces. The fragrant flowers serve as a magnet for pollinators, drawing in bees and butterflies.
  • Sunlight: To achieve its best growth and flowering, the Dwarf Radicans Gardenia should be positioned in a location where it can bask in full sunlight for at least four to six hours a day, with some dappled shade in the afternoon to protect it in hotter climates. Pruning should be done conservatively; snipping off spent blooms and occasional shaping will encourage a denser growth
  • USDA Zones: This gardenia variety is adaptable to a range of temperate climates, being hardy in USDA zones 7 through 10. It is cold-sensitive and may require additional mulch for root protection in cooler parts of its zones. The cape jasmine enjoys consistently moist soil. Good drainage is crucial to prevent root rot.
